Peles Castle was build between 1873 and 1883 by the King Carol I of Romania, first romanain king and the
conqueror of national Independence (in 1877).

The foundation of Peles Castle was establish in August 22, 1875.
Peles Castle and surrounding buildings (The Guard's Chambers, The Economat Building, The Foi?or Hunting Chateau,
The Royal Stables, "Sipot" Villa) are strongly bounded to The Royal House of Romania.
It served as a residence for Carol I, Ferdinand I and, there was born Carol II.
In 2006, the castle was restored to the King Michael I of Romania.
The castle was build as a summer retreat for royal family (until 1947) but today it hosts a public museum.
An important part of it can be visited by tourists.

The building has more than 170 rooms and a central tower of 66 meters.
Architectural style is a Neo-Renaissance (with German and Italian domination).

There can be visited the two armoury halls- you can see over 4,000 of pieces of weaponry and armour
here, The Honour Hall - used for receprions, The Council Chamber, Old Music Hall - arrange on the request
of Queen Elizabeth, The Florentine Room, Columns Room, The Moorish Salon, The Turkish Parlor, The Playhouse,
The Imperial Suite - disposed for the Franz Joseph I Emperor visit.

Also, with almost 2,000 pieces Peles Castle shelters one of the most valuable painting collections in Europe.
Thanks to the owned Power Plant, Peles was the dirst calstle in the Europe operated by electric power.
