Sinaia is a mountain resort, founded in 1860, situated on Prahova Valley, at the foot of the Bucegi Mountains, at an altitude between 767 m and 860 m.
Sinaia is also known as "Carpathians Pearl".

For the first time, Sinaia appears in a document in 1860. In 1866 it was named Turk's Bridge. The actual name of Sinaia is dated from 1874.
It was declared a city in 1880 when it becomes summer residence of King Carol I.
Access
Sinaia is located in the Prahova County at a distance of 120 km from Bucharest, 45 km from Brasov and 60 km from Ploiesti.
It can be reached from Bucharest by following the DN1 (E 60) Bucharest - Brasov or from Rasnov from DN 73 A, after leaving DN 1.
Using railway: Sinaia Passenger Station, using Bucuresti - Brasov route.

Climate
Sinaia has a sub-mountain climate having refreshing summers and moderated winters. Annual mean temperature is of about 6.5 Celsius degrees.
Tourist attractions
Peles Castle - build between 1873 and 1883 by Carol I de Hohenzollern - first king of Romania, composed by over 160 rooms.
The Castle has a central tower of 66 meters height.
First, the Castle was build to serve as summer residence for royal family (until 1947 when King Michael), but today it is a public museum.
As architecture, it pertains to the Renaissance German stile but also the Italian Renaissance one.
You can visit and admire two Weapon Rooms, Florentine Room, Trunks Room, Dining Room, Arabesque Room, French Room, Turkish Room, Music Hall.

Pelisor Castle It is located near Peles Castle and it was build by the prince Ferdinand I. Today it is a museum.
Sinaia Monastery The old church, in the patronage of "Adormirea Maicii Domnului", was build between 1690 and 1695, following
the Sinai Mountain "Sfanta Elena" monastery model.
Sinaia Casino Eas built in 1912, following the Petre Antonescu architect plans.
